Wall Post

Photos by: Ralph Delfin

I couldn't help but feel giddy whenever I post outfit posts like these.:D This is something that I REALLY wore today. You see, I love playing dress-up. If you've looked into my previous posts, especially last year's, they were a bit costume-y. What I used to post here were not really wearable in real, day-to-day small town  life. Like, who would go grocery-shopping wearing those. Hehe. Nevertheless, I'm happy that as I grow a year older with personal style blogging, I'm continually getting closer to fathoming the perfect balance between being tamed and courageous at the same time. :)

Today, I braved the streets, the awkward glares of passersby, and the thought of dried spit on the sidewalk where I sat (grossss), for the love of self-expression and blogging. O.o
I wore this glittery asymmetric skirt as a tunic. After wearing heels for days, I sported boots for more edge and denim shorts to make my look more casual.
Of course, colorful accessories completed my outfit because I cannot not be colorful. ;)

What brave act have you done today?
I'd love to here from you!

Dab Some Paint

Say hello to boho shoes and my brother's DIY shirt! Who would have thought that there are gems inside my brother's closet? Seriously, after today, his closet will be raided more often. Hi, Ralph! I hope this counts as asking for consent. ;D

I can't believe I actually went out of the house wearing these! Was aiming for a punked-up summer look but I ended up looking like a lost country club singer/band member. I'm so thankful I forgot to wear sunnies because that would be like Freddie Aguilar Meets Bruno Mars. :|
Nonetheless, I love how everything turned out. Finally, justice has prevailed for these leather jeans (unlike the one the posted two months ago, click here). :(

May of last year, I wrote about Budding Things---features on people who, like buds, have started small, and are beginning to blossom into the best wonders that they can be. The world needs to know that behind the spotlight and the glitz and the glamour, such people also exist. This month, I will again add three persons on my Budding Things List. :)
Here's what I came up last year -----> Budding Things 2011

Are you a Budding Thing? Or do you know of someone who can be hailed as one?
Let me know! And I'll write a feature on that, too.

Bloggers United 3: Let's GO!

Bloggers United Strikes Three!
Third time’s the charm for the most anticipated fashion bloggers event in the country!
Bloggers United is staging their third bloggers bazaar this June 2 at the Grandview Events Place to once again gather Manila’s top fashion bloggers in one single venue outside of the World Wide Web. After holding two successful events last year, Bloggers United has easily become one of the most anticipated affairs for both fashion bloggers and readers in the metro.  More than just a bazaar, Bloggers United also partners with charitable groups to use and channel their influence in a positive manner.
Through the overwhelming power of social media and blogs in today’s generation, the previous Bloggers United events have successfully joined forces with top fashion bloggers like Laureen Uy, Camille Co, Kryz Uy and many more to inspire their followers and to raise funds for various beneficiaries,  namely KIDS Foundation and GMA Kapuso Foundation. This time around, the event will benefit Operation Smile Philippines.
The event gets better and better every time! To make Bloggers United 3 even more momentous, top Indonesian fashion blogger Anastacia Siantar of The Brown Platform will also be selling alongside Cebu fashion bloggers and our very own top celebrities Divine Lee & Sarah Meier.
So, if you love blog-reading and blog-hopping, Bloggers United is sure to be the perfect end-of-summer bazaar for you. Not only will you be able to bump elbows with your favorite bloggers at the event, but you will also be able to snag some of their own stylish statement pieces as they open their closets to sell to the public.
Bloggers United is in partnership with: Operation Smile | Globe Tattoo

Barney Visits the Safari

So we went to Pontevedra earlier today to have lunch at Tita Rhoda's. (Thank you Bulans for making my tummy happier, I couldn't think of anything more to crave!)

It's a few more weeks before my sophomore year begins. How exciting is that?
Being the homebuddy that I am, I've thought of wearing my heart out whenever I'm not home. I'm taking
everyday as an opportunity to dress up. Yayyy! My flat shoes are all worn out, I need to take the other lovelies out for a bit.

I've waited for months for these shoes to arrive but I've worn them only once since then. :/ I honestly found it hard to figure how to maintain the summer vibe with these high-cut booties. But when I saw this purple blazer, I instantly thought of the blazer+shorts trend which is also making its way up the charts this summer.
I chose a mustard cowneck top to add in some texture and white shorts (not black, or blue, or neon, or printed, or denim) to keep my bottom laidback but still with a touch of summer. I matched everything with silver to black and bronze accessories to complete the look. :)

What do you think of my outfit?
Have you spotted Barney, Tigger, and the  leopard so far? HAHA. I couldn't think of a decent title so yahhh.

Faux Beach Bum

I'm not really the kind who gets thrilled with trips to the beach but since it was Mother's Day yesterday and my family still hasn't had some legit bonding this summer, I felt a different kind of anticipation. :)

The BDO-Roxas Family decided to spend the entire Sunday at Talon Adventure Park. It's a newly-developed tourist destination in the city. I've actually been there two years ago for a photoshoot with Elite Metro Roxas but only the orchid farm was present then. Currently, it has a wildlife reserve with a mini-zoo, ziplines, ATV/mountain bike rentals, a wider orchid farm with more orchids HAHA, and the beach (which was unexpectedly far from the adventure park proper).

Anyway, despite not being a beach bum, I still do collect clothes that are beach-appropriate. I even have a number of bikinis, bandeaus, and cover-ups in my closet which have never been used. I'm not a partyphile as well, but I also have a lot of party dresses and sparkly tops in case I get invited to clubs which have sadly never happened in a number of years. But as I always say, I'd rather sleep than have my hair fumed with cigar smoke. :P

I decided to wear something light and breezy for this short getaway. The original plan was to wear a powerfully-colored bra, perhaps red, hot pink, or blue green, below this sheer top but my dad thought it was a little too revealing. Hence, the striped yellow top instead. I like how this turned out to be sooo Mela. So ME - bright and colorful. :D Even if colorblocking has gone its way out of style, I've always been comfortable with colors that scream fun.

Thank God for slippers!
I left home wearing four-inched wedges which were perfect for this outfit.
But seeing everyone in slippers made me think that it's better to just blend in a little.
The moms there were the stars of the day anyway. :)
I finally met my goddaughter Summer! :D

To the person who taught me how to mix and match and be fashionable,
who often gets annoyed whenever I raid her closet but gives me her clothes anyway,
who taught me that style isn't what you wear but who you are and how you wear it,
who have made the person that I am now,
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY MAMA! I LOVE YOU!
You are certainly my No.1 Fashion Icon. :D

Belated Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!

Baby Doll

Since it's not every Sunday that we get to celebrate Mass at the Cathedral, I decided to wear this lace dress that I've been wanting to wear for ages. It's simple, sweet and really dainty, I couldn't afford to over-accessorize and wear pieces that could steal the attention it deserved. This look reminds of me of matchy-matchy dressing during my childhood days - obviously not my current style staple since I'm into bright colors and prints at the moment.
It's nice to deviate from your usual style once in a while. :)

The only fashion attitude that I should overcome though is the fear of getting meaningful glances due to 'overdressing'. Apparently, outfits like these are only worn on weddings, parties and the like, here in our province where almost everyone's hooked with the shirt+jeans trend.
Hence, I wore flats instead. :|
I must say that it takes a bucketful of courage to daringly pull an outfit off. For some lucky individuals, it's innate nature. As for me, it will always be a bold decision to show the world who I really am without inhibitions, just glare-proof confidence. Soon, I will make that decision, swear! :D

What prevents you from being a little too dressy in public?
