Flower Child

So my dad finally decided to buy new lens for our DSLR. Yipee.
You can only imagine me jumping around with giddiness over the turn out of these photos, set after set.
It's been long since I got outfit photos as bright and clear as these. Happiness! :3

I've been planning to make a DIY flower crown for the longest time.
And as they always happen, my first DIY attempts usually end up funny.
Very, very funny. It's really okay to laugh.
Say hello, Mother Nature!

Better Days Are Ahead

And better photos I hope.
I'm beginning to grow frustration over blurry photos and DSLR settings.
I swear I did all the best that I could to salvage them via photo processing but the images still look very soft and overexposed. I hope that you guys will still be with me in this time of blogging tribulation.
I will not stop until I figure this thing out. Promise. :)

Because it's spring on the other side of the world, I came up with a spring-inspired weekend outfit.
This sure will look good with a floral crown but I decided to make the look more edgy with a pseudo-side shave. Blogger friends Kookie Buhain, Em Trava and Gizelle Faye have been rockin' this hairstyle for quite some time so I wanted to try it myself by sweeping all of my hair to one side, taking advantage of my wide forehead. I'm certainly not bold enough to get half of my head shaved but I think I'll need a haircut one of these days. Hairstyle suggestions, please? :)

Much love,
Mela

This probably is one of the most vibrant posts I've had. It's a delight to spend the long weekend here at home despite the gazillion things waiting to be accomplished during the last few days of this school year. Home-cooked food and family are all I really need to bring back all the energy, motivation and inspiration that's been draining out of me these passed days.

I wore this outfit during our visit earlier at my grandma's hometown. I basically have no outfit issues with that lest of course we pass by the mall to buy her pasalubong. I wish I wore slippers instead but obviously, the Manhattan--errr, Roxas City Onceovers came a bit earlier than that realization. x_x

All the elements in this outfit revolved around my new JC Lita-inspired booties: mint, mint, mint, and mint. I didn't plan to be Coachella-ish but my DIY-necklace was the perfect pop of color that I needed. Hence, the discovery of it's multi-functionalism (might as well use it as a belt soon).

What do you think of this outfit?
Thanks again, Manang Paola for the stuff that you sent! Love, love this top!
Aaaand CONGRATULATIONS to the 2013 graduates.
Yipee, summer is just around the corner! XD

Much love,
Mela

Rip It!

Hello, everyone!
This is just a quick post before I finally devote my time to studying. One of my 2013 Blog Resolutions is to re-vamp my style. All these years, I have been so much fond of colors. But despite the youthfulness and energy that they exude, the thrill of wearing them is slowly waning. I don't ever want that to happen because colorful is ME. So to make myself miss colors a little, I will temporarily shift to basics--black, white and nude--on my upcoming posts.

Thank goodness, Ms. Stephanie of GIFI Clothing sent over closet must-haves that somehow, I am guilty of not having--white tops. And they aren't just ordinary white tops, they have surprise rips here and there! I am so excited to style and show you the others. :D Clearly, I am not a T-shirt person but this is what a new year is all about, right? New finds and new adventures!

Aside from re-vamping my style, I also have updating my blog header and layout on the list. Notice the larger photos! Spent the whole afternoon "designing" a new header but I believe it's just not good enough. :( Someone help me, please? My sidebar widgets are next. But yes, one weekend at a time!

How did your week go?

Much love,
Mela

High or Low

The blogosphere is currently flooded by mullets/fishtails/asymmetric skirts which are mostly sheer or made of chiffon fabric. Why the craze? Mullets are ultimately perfect day-to-night ensembles. Given the appropriate top and shoes, one can be a beach chic, an elegant party girl, or even go on a casual lunch date with friends. :)

As for me, I deviated a bit from the usual sheer and went all the way with prints and multi-colors. This one-piece dress spared me time from my usual dilemma of which top to pair my mullet with or which accessories to wear since its already printed. I also loved how the light fabric moved easily with the wind!

I wore this to church three Sundays ago. Since it really looked like a maxi dress from the back, I got unsurprisingly surprised glances when I turned around. Mini skirts aren't allowed at church but asking my mom's opinion (plus all the other persons at home), they said the dress was still modest enough to wear. Sunday is the regular day of worship for us Catholics. For most, especially the busy bees, it's their only day of worship. So if you dress so fab when you go to a friend's party, what more when you visit God's house?

What is Sunday's Best for you? :)

Dab Some Paint

Say hello to boho shoes and my brother's DIY shirt! Who would have thought that there are gems inside my brother's closet? Seriously, after today, his closet will be raided more often. Hi, Ralph! I hope this counts as asking for consent. ;D

I can't believe I actually went out of the house wearing these! Was aiming for a punked-up summer look but I ended up looking like a lost country club singer/band member. I'm so thankful I forgot to wear sunnies because that would be like Freddie Aguilar Meets Bruno Mars. :|
Nonetheless, I love how everything turned out. Finally, justice has prevailed for these leather jeans (unlike the one the posted two months ago, click here). :(

May of last year, I wrote about Budding Things---features on people who, like buds, have started small, and are beginning to blossom into the best wonders that they can be. The world needs to know that behind the spotlight and the glitz and the glamour, such people also exist. This month, I will again add three persons on my Budding Things List. :)
Here's what I came up last year -----> Budding Things 2011

Are you a Budding Thing? Or do you know of someone who can be hailed as one?
Let me know! And I'll write a feature on that, too.

Mela
