Sneakers Girl

Hello lovelies!
Updating this blog regularly was my number one goal when the school year ended but I arrived home with more important activities already set for me. Aside from the Holy Week buzz, I was again commissioned to lead the team for Sons and Daughters Encounter (SADE) - Roxas last weekend. It's just something that I could never say no to. Hence, my first days/weeks of summer were spent for meetings, dry-runs, typing, and double-checking kits and materials for the weekend. Coordinating SADE is honestly one of my most stressful endeavors apart from medschool and research but no matter how tired I always end up to be, the feeling I get after every graduation is beyond rewarding. :)

These photos were taken way wayyy back in February for a contest that I was supposed to join in. I was aiming for an all-blue outfit as one of my mates has long been requesting for a monochromatic post.
Hi Melch, haha!

Disclaimer: I'm strongly, seriously, and with expectant humiliation, aware that I am "unfit". Took me more than two hours to ask the people at home and decide on which photos to post because one can never lie to a bodycon dress. T.T
I SHALL allot time for working out starting next week. Promise!!! T.T
Meet my new favorite shoes from Gifts Ahoy
Looks may be deceiving but they're not your ordinary sneakers. Why would I wear sneakers when I can wear girly-girl shoes anyway? Reason, these sporty-looking shoes have hidden wedges inside. Yayyyy for the 3-inch addition to my height! They're super comfy, too. I wouldn't mind wearing them everyday. :D

This is long overdue but THANKS to everyone who voted for me! We did it again. :D
My victory is yours, too. Thanks to Fleet Collection, as well, for this opportunity!
I love you all from my heart of hearts!

Much love,
Mela

This probably is one of the most vibrant posts I've had. It's a delight to spend the long weekend here at home despite the gazillion things waiting to be accomplished during the last few days of this school year. Home-cooked food and family are all I really need to bring back all the energy, motivation and inspiration that's been draining out of me these passed days.

I wore this outfit during our visit earlier at my grandma's hometown. I basically have no outfit issues with that lest of course we pass by the mall to buy her pasalubong. I wish I wore slippers instead but obviously, the Manhattan--errr, Roxas City Onceovers came a bit earlier than that realization. x_x

All the elements in this outfit revolved around my new JC Lita-inspired booties: mint, mint, mint, and mint. I didn't plan to be Coachella-ish but my DIY-necklace was the perfect pop of color that I needed. Hence, the discovery of it's multi-functionalism (might as well use it as a belt soon).

What do you think of this outfit?
Thanks again, Manang Paola for the stuff that you sent! Love, love this top!
Aaaand CONGRATULATIONS to the 2013 graduates.
Yipee, summer is just around the corner! XD

Much love,
Mela

Good Hair And Make-up Days

Sometimes you have good hair and make-up days.
And sometimes, you get your hair and make-up done for free and it suddenly becomes a good hair and make-up day. This is one of the rare occasions when I'm wearing more than tinted moisturizer and blush on my skin

My search for a reliable hair and make-up artist for my cousin's wedding last December was close to hopeless. There's quite a number of salons in the city but a bunch of positive-negative hearsay was also going on for each. In momentous events like weddings with photographers left-and-right, it's a MUST to look your best by choosing only someone that you trust. So when my high school classmate, Angel-- who happened to have recently launched a barber shop/salon-- offered her services, I knew I was in good hands.

If anyone needs an AMAZING make-up artist in Roxas City or Iloilo, Angelie Andrada is your girl. She completed a professional course from Make Up Forever - Manila and is currently offering professional make-up services and packages for weddings, debuts, proms, dates and occasions of any sort. She recently held make-up tutorials and classes and has been exposed to Wedding and Event Exhibits as well. She used to do home services but now, her expertise has found its home in Andrew's Barber Shop and Salon.
I heard that her airbrush skills are insane. She definitely is a must-try!

We had a very early appointment because the wedding started at 10AM. I came in with semi-wet hair and barefaced evidence that I just came out from bed. Uh-oh.
Because of the early call-time, I expected Angel to use all of the time up but she magically wrapped everything in less than an hour! She's unbelievably faster than any veteran salon personnel I know. We have discussed the wedding's theme and the color of my dress days before the big day, so everything went easy-peasy. I also sent her photos of how I wanted my hair to be done and it was nailed perfectly well!

Andrew's Barber Shop & Salon is located at Capiz Government and Business Center, Fuentes Drive, Roxas City.

And for my final look...
I loooove my perfectly imperfect messy side bun!
With the genius behind this look, Angelie Andrada! The session became a mini-reunion, too. One of my childhood girlfriends arrived. Hello Lian! Since we had more than enough time before the ceremony started, I was able to have my outfit photos taken. Yipeee, but sorry for the blurry photos. Something bad was definitely going on with the camera at that time. :( :)

Of course, this post wouldn't be complete without photos to show how glorious the day was.
My cousin, Nico, finally got married and I couldn't be happier for him and his dear twinnie. Emie is the nicest, sweetest, brightest-smiling girl I have encountered. She and Nico are basically personality twins! As I sat in awe watching one of my closest cousins on his wedding day, I couldn't help swelling into tears realizing that the baby I used to share my mom's milk with (yes, along with Kirby, we were 'nursed' together by my mom while their moms were out), was all grown up. He has found his princess and they are now beginning their happily ever after.
(wedding photos from Nico and Emie Yap)

I wish you love birds, the happiest of lives together. May the only tears you shed be ones of joy (or the ones from laughing so hard together). May your love only grow fonder and more abundant each day. And may your kids look like little Asian penguins because that would be so cute and funny at the same time. HAHA.
I love you guys sososoooo much!

Much love,
Mela

Baseball

A comfortable look for Maxine's christening. Of course, there is nothing more comfortable than a cropped top worn over a bodycon dress. It's the easiest, least obvious way to wear something body-hugging without worrying about tummy flab. Don't you just think it's the perfect outfit combo for food-tripping? Sure enough, I really ate my heart out that day--with no inhibitions!
My take on the famous kitty-cat pose. Sorry. HAHA

Velvet and Gumballs

There's something about velvet that makes me feel expensive. The way it reflects light and shifts the gloss with movement is just majestic. I then envision carpeted floors and heavy capes of ancient royalty. Now, velvet is associated with rockstar edginess that shouts, "I'm a toughie. Don't mess with me."

Print on print topped the style charts last 2012; On this first day of 2013, I am channeling velvet on velvet--two pieces of velvet clothing with different textures that show different degrees of amazing under the afternoon sun. And because I cannot NOT be colorful, I accessorized with my favorite neon candies from Superb Finds and The Couple Store to salvage my identity; while velvet's cousin, suede, became the perfect shoes. The more will always be the merrier. Hence, an additional light reflector, this metallic purse from GIFI Clothing, just had to be added.
How do you like my outfit? :)

A happy cupcake for a happy new year!
I received countless, unexpected opportunities last 2012 because of all your support. Whatever this blog has achieved, I owe all that from you, dear readers, sponsors, friends, and family who continually believe in me despite my struggling life in medschool.

I started with zero followers, my family and less than ten friends as readers, to gaining international readers, meeting real blogger friends, blog sponsors who ended up as friends, and photographers extraordinaire who helped me with my outfit photos without any sort of compensation. You all know who you are. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!

You can now reach my blog via-- www.wearismela.com! Again, thank you so much, everyone! Let's all hope and pray and work for an even better year ahead. :)

Much love,
Mela
