What If I Had Short Hair?

Been wanting to get a haircut for the longest time because:
1.) my hair is almost at the waist level
2.) I want a new look
3.) the longer my hair gets, the more expensive salon treatments become.

But noooooo.
There are just too many reasons not to get short. Like yearbook photoshoots (it's never too early to prepare) and the Legend of the Wrath-of Heedlessly-Chopped-Off-Hair that my friends warned me about.
So I'll just get a trim. Not my dream Cameron Diaz or Ellen DeGeneres hairstyle--but just a few inches shorter than the same old Mela-hair. Boring? I know. But thank goodness for colorful outfits that could transform a bad hair day into something fuss-free.

If you belong to the 90's generation, you've probably worn a skort at least once in your childhood because they're stylish and comfy at the same time. Believe it or not, they were my staple bottoms when attending birthday parties then. So thrilled that they're now back in different colors and asymmetric hems via Persunmall! The pastel button-down made such a sweet contrast with blue as well. Don't you think?
This outfit was soooo perfect for running around and baby-sitting my nephew during our family lunch last Sunday. Get your own breezy top in mint, black, and pink here.

I know I should just let this go but, must I get my hair cut short or not? :|
HELP.

Much love,
Mela

Written In The Stars

If you consider a Php1000 head-to-toe look as "thrifting", then I certainly am stingy.
Mom got this dress for Php700+ from a local boutique and never worn it even once. Hence, as the self-proclaimed *coughs* heiress *coughs*  of everything she has, I took this lovely out for some sunlight and fresh air.

Peplum bodycons are commonly night dresses but since I couldn't think of any party that I'd probably go to in the next few days or weeks, I came up with a summery twist.

Not a single centavo was spent for any of the items I'm wearing (because they're mom's) save of course for the shoes. I bought them two years ago when Solemate by SM Dept Store first came out. Buy One, Take One for Php399! I barely used them so they got buried under shoeboxes until I forgot I owned something like them. Only then when I looked for unused clothes and shoes to sell did I find them again.
Everything in this post was written in the stars, ha! Need my sunnies say more? :)

| Photos by Sandy Delfin--who owns everything I'm wearing here except the shoes. XD |

Have you ever tried thrifting?
I'd love to hear your stories.

Much love,
Mela

P.S. Something about the sunnies that made my nose more pointed. Awkward. But I like it. :|

Blogoversary Series: Easy Breezy

One of the more frequent reminders I get from my mom is to Take It Easy.
I've always been the kind who stresses one's self too much whenever something needs to be done
I may not rant a lot amidst people but deep inside I am sick and full of complaints, frustrations, and ridiculous thoughts that are really oftentimes unnecessary. So I always end up realizing that I could have also achieved the same goals taking the easier path--the one that doesn't involve pessimism and pushing myself too hard. Sometimes it takes a trip to the spa or salon for me to realize that. XD

Because the first one was so lady-like and sophisticated (Blogoversary Series: Signature Poses) and the second was fun, girly, and youthful (Blogoversary Series: Twenteen Three), I wanted this part to just be as relaxed and effortless as possible--something that any girl could wear to the mall with friends.

Everyone loves skater skirts these days because of their versatility--they can be worn for day-to-day activities, in sports, or even in formal events depending the the top and shoes that you'll pair them with. Cropped tops like this are usually loose. Instead of tucking it in, I decided to pull one shoulder down to create a "skinny illusion". I'm using the same satchel as the Blogoversary Series: Twenteen Three post with it's hidden shoulder strap revealed. Very functional bag, isn't it?

Minus the shoes and accessories, this entire outfit from Stiles by Fabshop only costs: Php895!

cropped top: Php150
skater skirt: Php195
satchel: Php550

What a steal!

Sneakers Girl

Hello lovelies!
Updating this blog regularly was my number one goal when the school year ended but I arrived home with more important activities already set for me. Aside from the Holy Week buzz, I was again commissioned to lead the team for Sons and Daughters Encounter (SADE) - Roxas last weekend. It's just something that I could never say no to. Hence, my first days/weeks of summer were spent for meetings, dry-runs, typing, and double-checking kits and materials for the weekend. Coordinating SADE is honestly one of my most stressful endeavors apart from medschool and research but no matter how tired I always end up to be, the feeling I get after every graduation is beyond rewarding. :)

These photos were taken way wayyy back in February for a contest that I was supposed to join in. I was aiming for an all-blue outfit as one of my mates has long been requesting for a monochromatic post.
Hi Melch, haha!

Disclaimer: I'm strongly, seriously, and with expectant humiliation, aware that I am "unfit". Took me more than two hours to ask the people at home and decide on which photos to post because one can never lie to a bodycon dress. T.T
I SHALL allot time for working out starting next week. Promise!!! T.T
Meet my new favorite shoes from Gifts Ahoy
Looks may be deceiving but they're not your ordinary sneakers. Why would I wear sneakers when I can wear girly-girl shoes anyway? Reason, these sporty-looking shoes have hidden wedges inside. Yayyyy for the 3-inch addition to my height! They're super comfy, too. I wouldn't mind wearing them everyday. :D

This is long overdue but THANKS to everyone who voted for me! We did it again. :D
My victory is yours, too. Thanks to Fleet Collection, as well, for this opportunity!
I love you all from my heart of hearts!

Much love,
Mela
