Mellow Yellow

It feels so good to be able to spend the weekend in my hometown! I missed eating homefood and sleeping in my room with my baby brother for two painful months! Although we're expecting 3 exams and SGDs this week, not having a Monday exam is such a blessing. A lot took place this past week which include me getting sick to the point of missing my exams and classes. :( I almost got rushed to the hospital due to fever and diarrhea. Thank God, I recovered quickly.

I've always been style savvy. You may have noticed that I don't give much emphasis on the brands I wear. That's because most of my clothes are 'brandless'. I buy stuff from the most random stores and if ever I'd drool over online boutique offers, I make sure that the items are the cheapest(in terms of price) ones available - not compromising the quality of course.

One online shop that has consistently gained my attention (and patronage!) is Bubbles. Bubbles started selling accessories and is currently into establishing its own ready-to-wear clothing line. New items and designs are uploaded almost every week and they get sold out in just a span of hours. You really have to be very alert to purchase the items of your choice! Aside from unique and good-quality pieces, what I like most about  Bubbles is that it's also based in Iloilo. I get spared from the hassles of bank deposits and shipping. :D Everything's affordable and very wearable, swear!

I hope everyone's safe and enjoying the drizzly weather as much as I do.

Survivor

Waaaaa. I have the most awkward hands. XD

Photos by Tajen Sui
And thanks to Frances for the curlers. Hihi

I call myself a survivor because this school week is finally over and I'm still here---ALIVE!
I could vividly recall the anxiety I had when the schedule for this past week was given out. Well, if you'd allow me to share what actually happened, my week pretty much went like this:

**Module 4 Exam (Monday)
**1st SGD session (Monday)
**Deadline of Research Homework (Tuesday)
**Pathology Exam (Tuesday)
**Microbiology Exam (Tuesday)
**Film Showing with Reaction Paper (Wednesday)
**2nd SGD Session (Wednesday)
**FCM Exam (Thursday)
**Submission of Reaction Papers (Friday)
**Community Visit despite the mud and the VERY strong rain (Friday)
**3rd SGD Session (Friday)
**Finally got my brows done and a new haircut (Friday)
**OMG, I found the perfect hairstylist (Friday)
**Some retail therapy (Friday)
**Had 10 hours of sleep after ages (Friday)
**Woke up and felt like I had a hangover (Saturday)
**1st time to eat a whole cup of rice after so many weeks or months (Saturday)
**College of Med Acquaintance Party (Saturday)

***all that plus lectures in between***

HAHA. That went by quickly, I would say.
Next week will be less stressful (just two exams and a quiz!). Yayyyy!
They always say that sophomore year is the toughest and oh my golly, that's slowly sinking in. Exams in med school are like oxygen -- one couldn't just live without them. In our case, with a PBL curriculum, it's exams + SGDs. Whew.

To all aspiring doctors, enjoy your undergrad years! Don't rush yourselves toward medical school. This path is no joke. What comforts though is the fact that all sacrifices will have corresponding gains in the end. That's for sure. :D

Much love,
Mela

P.S. HELP! This is a shoutout to compassionate hearts out there:
I need someone who can take my outfit shots! You don't have to be a professional photographer. I swear it won't be much of a hassle because it only takes 10-15mins to finish. And if you're from the city too, I can just go wherever you're hanging out, and we're done! This is a weekly thing so I'll make sure that the few minutes that I'll borrow won't interfere with your studies/job. Please, please, please.  :(

Heavy Bottoms

Paisley and scarf prints are definitely back!
I felt some kind of deja vu when I saw these patterns online.
Dug up my memory bank and voila, these were actually those familiar twisted teardop prints on my grandmother's dusters! Fashion has indeed its way of resurrecting itself. :D

My pops came over three weeks ago for a meeting and this is what I wore during our quick lunch-out. These photos were taken a week later (yeah, I recycled these pieces for a few minutes just to be photographed). Thanks, Tajen Sui!
Necklace from Mizar Clothing
Iloilo-based online shops are currently growing in number! That means faster transactions and worry-free pick-ups! No shipping fees involved!
Do not be deceived. I am not wearing a maxi skirt. These are palazzo pants!
Limited edition SO! Fab heels by Boop Yap.
So many Yaps in the world, I wonder how we are all related. Hmmm
Slit-back top from bebe.
The only kind of bag I dislike : eyebags. :(

What I wore to the Bloggers United 3 was featured online--twice! Yayyyy

Thanks to Marco of Philippine Street Fashion and StyleBible.PH!

That's all for now loves.
It's time to switch back to hardcore reading mode.
Four exams and three SGD sessions are waiting for me next week. Pray for me, please?

I hope everyone's enjoying the weekend! :D

Much love,
Mela

Stranger Anxiety

The very talented Tajen Sui helped me out with my outfit posts two weeks ago and it was quite an experience working with someone so skilled in photography. You see, I started blogging not because I wanted to be a fashion/portrait/ad model or something close to that. I simply want to document what I wear just so I have something to show my future grandkids, hehe. Dressing up has always been my form of expression. But with the life that I have now, being artsy is almost  an impossibility. :(

BUT. Thank God for Saturdays! It's the only time of the week when I can go out and just be me. With going out I don't mean malling/partying, it's actually that one hour I spend in the chapel two blocks away from my dormitory. :| Yes, I know, that's how self-deprived I am. Studying medicine entails delaying gratifications and sacrifice. Phew. I know that time will come when I can finally freely trot the streets (or must I say, wards?) in my favorite dresses and high heels without worrying about upcoming Monday, Tuesday, Friday exams or SGDs. Yayyyy! Someday. :D

Here's what I wore to church many Saturdays ago.
With the moody Iloilo weather, I have somehow mastered the art of bipolar dressing. A loose top and palazzo pants -- both flowy and silky--  made the perfect combination. Everything was so cool and so light, I felt like I was just wearing pajamas. I could sleep wearing this ensemble!
I left most of my accessories in my hometown so I chose pieces that could actually stand on their own. With a top as dainty as this, who needs a necklace?
I am so inlove with palazzo pants! If paired with the right top and shoes, they can make thin legs look fuller and plump legs look slimmer. Try raiding your mom's closet, I'm sure she has a lot of pants like these!
I was accustomed with my brother taking my photos, hence this new encounter brought the most awkward and shaky Lia. :| Nevertheless, thank you, Tajen for your time and patience! :D

How are you guys coping with school?

Much love,
Mela
