Bubblegumdrop

photos by Jovel Biboso

After more than a year of planning, say hello to my first ever collaboration with Jovel Biboso! We've been neighbors since forever but our schedules never seem to collide until last weekend when I went home to Roxas for less than 24hours. :| It's a long explanation why that happened but I have no regrets despite the tiring trip which could have been spent with sleep instead.

What I love most about Jovel's photos is that they have this characteristic warmth and youthfulness. She's one of those down-to-earth photography enthusiasts who does most shoots for fun but effortlessly end up with pleasing results. We've been messaging each other before we met up but she never told me that our shoot was going to happen on her birthday! My bad, I didn't have a clue if she hadn't ask me to attend her dinner party. Yes, I am just that negligent with Facebook's birthday notifs.

Anyway, what I'm wearing here is a deviation from my usual getup. This is something outside of my style comfort zone but I hope I did justice to my Grandma's top (Believe it or not, it's hers!) and this envelope purse from Bubbles. Isn't it pretty? Guess what, it's NOT mine! It'll be owned by one of you very soon! Bubbles is giving away this neon envelope purse to one lucky reader of this blog! Yay! Not only that, one of my sponsors will also give out a GC worth of shoes/apparel! I'll do my very best to post it next weekend! :D

My study break is officially over, so goodbye for now?
Have a blessed September, everyone. :)

Much love,
Mela

P.S. Feel the 'warmth and youthfulness' of Jovel's works here:

The Sundress, The Belly, and The Busmate.

Because I'm too lazy to exercise,
only four photos passed my Feeling-Sexy-Looking-Chubby-Nonchalant Belly Challenge.

Don't judge me!
This is the boldest I have ever gone so please reconsider if this turned out a fail.
AHAHAHA
Stomach-in....

Front View.

Side View.

Concealed View.

I therefore conclude that some things are just not meant to be together---like this cropped top and myself.
My lola made this for me so I should at least find means to wear this out with heads-up dignity.
 HAHA.
I will do fat burning cardios starting next week.
That's a promise!
 Sayang the 150+ photos I deleted. :(

I received a bag of pre-loved shoes last week for FREE!
Three pairs of Candies wedges.
Two pairs of BCBG heels.
And this one, Casadei (am not really familiar with the brand but they're made in Italy).
All of them are size 8--a size bigger than mine. :(

***
Went to Iloilo today for a dental checkup and met Jovel at the bus terminal. :)
Weeee. Seatmates for more than three hours.
Such a tiring trip but I'm so happy our paths crossed!
We'll be doing our collaboration tomorrow!

Finally made it to Hypeed.com's magazine spread!
I was on Top 3 yesterday for the theme Summer Sundress!
Photo credit goes to Nico Yap. Thank you!

I feel so honored to be with France and Poland on the Top 3.
It's like I represented the Philippines! Hehe

***
All my recent posts have music videos on them so I'm not making this one an exception. :)
This vid reminds me of the Summer 2011 Trend, Color-Blocking.
Too bad summer's over.
But it's my signature look so I'm not giving it up no matter what.
Heee.
My Time by Minus the Bear.

So sorry for the blogging hiatus, guys.
I've been and will be very busy until Sunday.
I'll be facilitating a weekend encounter for teens starting Friday, June 3.
Will try to blog about it tomorrow so I can at least invite some of you.
I still have two more entries on the line up.
I hope you won't get tired of my backlogs though. :)))

And THANK YOU.
My blog's two months old already.
I couldn't post daily but thank you for visiting my blog and reading my posts.
I love you, all!
xoxoxoxo

Much love,

One Down. More to Go.

Before I start preparing for this month's activities, I'd like to commemorate this day.
It's my first month as a blogger, though I still can't call myself a fashion blogger-- what I often blab about is everyday life. But then again, having this blog makes me a blogger. :)))

I have high hopes for this blog. And as much as I want to post posts daily, I also have other things to attend to like medschool application, our family business, and this May's Summer Catechetical Program of our subdivision's chapel. I was a sixth grader when I started teaching kids but I broke it off when I stepped onto college. I'm doing it again this year for the lack of volunteers despite unrestrained taunts from some ''friends'' who think that I'm better off inside the convent than in medschool. If you're one of them, hey! That issue has long been resolved and I want married life!

I started enjoying light, flawless skin two years ago after I completed a 19-month oral Isotretinoin therapy plus other medications to fight acne. But came November 2010, I was on depressed mode. I had skin breakouts and allergies to non-dermatologist-prescribed products. Now I'm living with everything hypoallergenic-- from my hair and skin care to my diet. I skipped all my whitening experiments and followed my dermatologist's advice to embrace my color and let the sunscreen do its job. It's better to be morena and have clear skin that to be immaculately white but acne-faced anyway.

Our Bora trip was also cancelled last month and for these reasons, I still haven't enjoyed summer. And I don't have a summer photo yet!

I mentioned on my previous post that I was on polka dots the entire week. So to make it up to you guys, here are the pieces I wore.

 Sunday.
This is not a midi skirt, these are shorts. I'm planning to have these altered into something mini.

Monday.

Tuesday.
The buttons look like Capiz shells. :)

 Wednesday.

Thursday.

Friday.

 Saturday.
I bought this bag for only P150 from a thrift shop!

Finally,
MY BLOG RESOLUTIONS:
1.) Post at least three posts per week.
2.) Start doing blog features.
3.) Follow more blogs to improve blogging skills.
4.) Take more photos; always have a camera on-hand.
5.) Don't stay up late for the sake up blogging.
(I want to add more but I still can't think of any!)

I also dedicate this post to all the workers who toil so that others may live.
Happy Labor Day!

Much love,
Mela

Just Got Lucky.

...and super blessed! (so sorry for blabbing)
It's thirty minutes past midnight but here I am, blogging. This should have been posted last Wednesday but I was busy with a number of things which I'd rather not elaborate. And I couldn't stand another day of delay for thanking everyone who in one way or another supported, inspired, guided, and prayed with me to achieve... Arggh, too drowsy to get senti now. But I QUALIFIED FOR THE WVSU-COLLEGE OF MEDICINE ADMISSIONS! There. Yeee. I got in! And this time, I'm 101% certain to enroll on June!
I can't wait to call myself a medical student. :)

Holy Week's activities distracted me from being anxious so it only sinked in last Sunday that the results are going to post an epic effect on my career path since I only have one target school. And not getting in would mean losing my chance this coming school year.

I have Chinese blood but we're not really practicing Chinese. I do hear often though that red is a lucky color and polka dots attract luck. So I decided to wear polka dots since Sunday (sadly, no photos). Received alot of polka dotted items from my grandmoms anyway and I felt that this is the perfect time to wear them. But effective or not, there is just so much goody-ing  this week.

I don't have Adobe Photoshop yet, but I discovered that I have this Arcsoft Photostudio 2000 (yes, very retro) and tried it. Whatever happened to my photos is not Arcsoft's fault. I just suck in editing, that's it.

Sixth from bottom! This is the first of three pages, btw.
Congratulations to all who got in!
My fingers remain crossed for my friends who are still on the waiting list. I'm praying for you, guys!

And have I mentioned that I completed my IV Therapy requirements last Thursday?
Thank you Saint Anthony Hospital ER staff!

My blog's turning a month old on Sunday! I have blog resolutions to post tomorrow. :))
How did your week go?

Much love,
Mela

Traditions.

Came from a Catholic family and Holy Week just gets crazier year after year.
Alot took place---from our family recollection, to the Last Supper (usually held at the Mayor's house--my uncle's), to visiting churches around the province, family visits, to the Good Friday procession...
So much going around and first cute meets!
I have new friends and I still find it funny how we've known each other since and became friends just now.

Anyway.
Yesterday was Black Saturday. We decided to go on a lie-low and get cozy at home.
My brother, Ralph, was busy as hell packing suitcases and getting ready for a month's stay in Manila and I, too, was as busy coming up with my to-buy list and pulling off pieces for our last outfit post.
He takes most of my photos and not having him here means less frequent outfit docus.

Ralph has been very supportive and these fun photoshoots sure have developed a special brother-sister bond between us. Mom even said that there are no doubts on Ralph having trouble with maarte and demanding girls because he's had a bunch of practice with me.

We will miss you, Kuya. :(

I decided to be redundant and look black on a Black Saturday. Excuse the eyes, I'm not a makeup enthusiast! HAHA. I needed them to be dark to look a bit bigger. The bandana, the shirt, and the purse are all vintage hand-me-downs from my Lola.

I remember mentioning that my outfits are mostly donated by my grandmoms: Mom's mom (Lola Mely) and Mom's aunt (Tita Pat). Tita Pat's based in the U.S. and unlike Lola Mely (who has a bigger built), she has a body structure (and shoe size!) quite similar to mine. She's one of the most fashionable and glamorous ladies I know. And she doesn't look old, at all. I received loads of goodies (clothes, shoes, bags, magazines) from her last Friday and I swear, they're all gorge. I'm sooo blessed to have very kind grandmoms like them.

St. Jude Thaddeus has been our family's patron saint for more than 20 years and we represent him every Good Friday procession. ©NicoYap

Visited eight churches last Thursday after the Last Supper. We've been doing this for the past years, more popularly known as Visita Iglesia.

Parish of St. Nicholas Tolentino

Santa Monica Church houses the biggest bell in Asia. And the third biggest in the world, if I'm not mistaken.

Wide-legged trousers! And of course, my signature look--color blocked. :)
I look like I just woke up, sorry.
