Blogoversary Series: Twenteen Three

Sometimes, I feel like I've missed a lot during my teenage years.
Being the homebuddy that I am, night parties, dancing, beer bonding sessions, and tambayans were never really my kind of stuff. I'd rather stay in my room and read a good book, go window shopping (until I end up shopping, uh-oh) or treat myself in the spa or salon. More often than not, I go through these simple adventures on my own.

I know. I know. My life seems a bore. But looking back at my younger years, I believe that I also have a lot of stories to tell. Like reporting in national TV for KNN, exploring the province (and beyond!) for interesting segment scoops, meeting other young journalists, facilitating weekend retreats and encounters around the country, teaching Catechism on summer breaks, trying hard to be a ramp model, and various perks in between. My fashion blogging journey came a bit later but won't it be one exciting tale too?

Each of us grew up differently in different environments, from different families, with different groups of friends. With so many differences, I guess what really matters is living the best of our lives with each of own unique, best ways. By that, despite different pasts, presents, and futures, we can altogether someday look back at our lives with no bitterness and regrets.

May all of you, teenagers, enjoy your teenage years as much as I did!

This part of my Blogoversary Series is inspired by my teenage self.
My usual activities were spinster-ish but there was never a time that I forgot to look presentable and be the girly-girl that I am. I've been in love with colors since the day I got my first Barbie doll. Even now, I still enjoy playing dress up (with myself as the Barbie this time--haha). I loved how these pieces from Stiles by Fabshop exuded my fun, preppy and youthful side

Knowing that Stiles is a sponsor to top bloggers like Laureen Uy, I was also apprehensive of not being able to give justice to their products. Thank goodness for April Garcia of Studio23 Photography-Events, the entire outfit turned out as beautiful as it is in person. Thanks also to her friend, Caroline, for helping us out. :)

Blogoversary Series: Signature Poses

April is What,When and Wearabouts' birth month!
This blog turned two last April 1st and to celebrate my second anniversary as a blogger, I'll be showcasing a three-part series in collaboration with Studio23 Photography-Events and Stiles by Fabshop.

Studio23 Photography-Events is the love child of the sweet, kikay events and portrait photographer extraordinaire, April Garcia. Ever since its debut on February of this year, Studio23 Photography-Events has proven its sparkle with creative and affordable packages for weddings, product launches, conferences, private parties like debuts and university balls, home and outdoor photography throughout Metro Iloilo. Studio23 Photography-Events is located at Unit 202D, 2nd Floor Perpetual Succor Business Centre Building, 38 San Agustin Street, Iloilo City. They cater to out-of-town clients, too!
I was also very thrilled when Stiles by Fabshop agreed on a double collab. I've had boutique and brand sponsorships before but this was the first time for me to actually handpick, pull out and style items that I liked for a shoot. Hearing from the countries' top bloggers, I always thought that pulling out is fun and as easy as dumping clothes in a shopping cart; but the sea of pretty clothes in Stiles made my mini-errand a little bit more challenging. If the mind-boggling stress of pathology and microbio practical exams was like this, I would never ever complain of daily exam schedules. :D

Here's one of my top three picks from their latest collection.
What do you think?

Stiles by Fabshop is located at Shopper's Avenue Valeria Street, Iloilo City (beside Coffee Break, in front of ACE Hardware). Visit their Facebook page for stylish and pocket-friendly pieces!

There are thousands of fashion bloggers around the world.
But in my little niche called Roxas Hall, I think I am the only one. Being an ordinary med student and a blogger at the same time is awkward, embarrassing, and very very humbling. More often than not, I walk the corridors in lousy, full-support stockings (ughhh to weakling veins) with no makeup or colorful accessories as I usually do in my blog photos. One can easily make a "Reality vs Expectations" meme out of my med student vs blogger facades. Seriously. =.=

Despite all that, I'm very thankful for my friends and classmates' support even if that means endless taunts, wacky and exaggerated versions of my poses, and saying "Wear is *__insert name here__*" to whoever doctor or classmate or faculty wearing stylish clothes. Those brief moments of laughter always make my day.

Now here's a tribute to the best friends and batchmates in the world.
Check out their "Wear is Mela" poses. HAHAHA

I love you groupmates (with good fashion sense)! :P

T.G.I.F.

Wow.
It seems like everyone's gonna be hitting Tap House tonight, while I'm at home being a good girl.
KJ?
Whatever you say so. :P

Today marks the end of Block 2.
Next week's diving into the harshness of medical school and things will be learned the radical, complicated way.
So after a series of exams and reaction papers and love letters, I believe everyone deserves some time off to enjoy, party, and just chill.

But partying? Hello.
I have never viewed it as enjoyable since then.
Call me cynical but I don't see the point of getting all-dressed up only to return home in the early morn with the awful smell of cigar smoke in my hair and the grave certainty of not being able to wash it because I'm too tired and sleepy.

If partying aims to strengthen friendship bonds, then why not tighten your grips and experience hazard-free, happy times in school--where you all get to see each other everyday? Where you get to communicate more effectively in the absence of noise, and boom boxes? Where you don't have to worry about dragging a drunk and wasted friend home?

I'm such a spinster.
But I'd rather sleep things off, really.

I don't know if I'd still have a chance to post here once Block 3 (that'd be Monday) has started.
So I'm compressing everything in this post...

First up.
Our college acquaintance party.
Sama-Sama sa Medisina.
:))

With our batch's proud mommy, Ranie. <3

Erwin.
I've been growing some fondness for this guy.
 Cute!
By that I mean cute as a baby. HAHA. No malice please.

Melchor. Thessa. Kevin. Erwin.

Ranie and Patrick!

Risa in red. :))

Identical twins! Angeli and Angela.

Gwyn and Thessa.

Heavy dinner, huh?

Agape Meal.
A yearly tradition hosted by the Junior Class to welcome the Freshmen.

Marshmallows stuffed inside their mouths... Chubby Bunnies!

I was lucky enough to get to join a game. I don't know what it's exactly called, but we won!

Straight men from the Junior class danced for us.
I wonder where all their energies (and confidence) came from?

We were also assigned big brothers/sisters and I had Kuya Bryan Tan. :)
Shared him with Dalene.

University Acquaintance Party.
Pag-Iririmaw 2011.
There was a street dance and float competition.
I was never a dancer but I had no second thoughts on joining upon finding out that participants get to have plus points for the exams. That is how desperate I am. Or to make things less exaggerated, that is how low I expect the exam results to be. :(

Been classmates for a month, but the name of this guy (extreme right), I still don't know.

Bring an umbrella.
Because the weather has been gloomy and unpredictable lately.
Right, Thessa?

**Some photos are mine. The others I thank Dalene, Erik, Thessa, Ranie, and Zenia for sharing with me.:))

***
Three very close friends have already told me to watch this video.
They said that this is so teenage dirtbag me.
At first I was so thrilled of the idea of looking like Katy Perry.
Now I don't know how to react anymore.
Even I couldn't disagree.

Most people think that I'm just the typical girly-girl.
But I'm thankful that my friends see through me and still accept me for who I am despite my being dorky and bored and KJ on Fridays. HAHA

Thank God it's Friday.
My parents are visiting me tomorrow...can't wait!

Have a great weekend everyone.

Much love,

I Fell In Love With A DJ!

The cellphone's alarm interrupted my sleep at midnight last night.
It said 6-8-12.
My naiveté prompted me six months, eight days, and twelve hours ago to set my alarm after it internalized a life-changing conversation (if you'd scroll a bit down) to see how I'd be doing at present.
And dude, I'm doing good.
Screw that sappy Brian Mcknight song!

Anyway, Lo and behold!
The royal highness and the Facebook conversation that changed my life.
(Sorry, still can't get over the Royal Wedding craze. These are just representations, btw. But the clues are pretty obvious if we're close friends, HAHA.)

Prince Chuck: I fell in love with a DJ!
Princess D: Because DJ got us fallen in love again? Hey, that's my song!

We can sense connection and chemistry between a male and a female with their ability to finish each other's statements with much wit like this.
Sadly, I was the Camilla Parker-Bowles, not Princess D.
And in this royal setup, Chuck and D ended up together and it was the wrinkled Camilla who died.
Well, ALMOST. :P

6-8-12 ago, I wanted to have my eardrums exploded whenever I hear that Usher song.
But now, I'm perfectly alive with my current status: HAPPY.

Special thanks to my cousins and a few friends who don't just make me smile but swell me up with too much laughter even if it's not a personal, face-to-face basis.
I just want the whole world to know that I could not have made it through without you guys. <3

The once-in-a-blue-moon time that you'd see me holding a bottle of alcohol. :)))

With one of my favorite young designers, Aisha Peñalosa.
I was supposed to model one of her creations but none of them fit me!

Another budding fashion enthusiast, Dodi Vril Tan. His hair is love love love.

Our yearly tradition. Cousins' bonding 2010.

It's been looooong since we last hung out. I miss you, Lily, Don and Artty. :(

Those were the days, I wasn't aware that outfits can be documented.
This is the best(least) view I can offer for my tutu-like skirt.

I was #84 on Topblogs yesterday!
It's unbelievable!
